What is Booby Camp?

Booby Camp is a ONE-DAY charity and fitness boot camp training event to be held on Saturday, October 24th 2009 at 9:00 AM, at Mission Bay Park in San Diego, California.

What is the Purpose?

Booby Camp is intended to raise funds and further the mission of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, raising awareness of breast cancer and funding breast cancer research. There are many walk-a-thons, races, and competitions dedicated to furthering this mission, but typically, men are under-represented at these events.

Our purpose, then, is to reach the tough guys, the cavemen, and the regular dudes throughout greater San Diego, to bring them into the fundraising fold to help push for a cure.

After all, ONE in EIGHT women will be afflicted with breast cancer in their lifetimes, and they are our mothers, our wives, our girlfriends, and our daughters.

While we're planting our tongues firmly in cheek with our name, logo, and approach, it is our intention to be deadly serious about highlighting this very common and very dangerous women's health concern.

And what better way than a grueling, brutal workout to show our appreciation and love for the women in our lives?

What is the Cost?

A minimum donation of $25 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure is required. There is no maximum donation.

All participants will receive a FREE Booby Camp T-shirt for their donation.

What will we be doing?

All Booby Camp participants are to expect a challenging workout, in the "boot camp" style, designed and supervised by San Diego Personal Trainer Dave DePew.

You WILL be challenged. You WILL be ground down. But if the ladies in our lives can survive the grueling ordeal of chemotherapy, we can show our support by surviving a tough workout!

Men, it's time for us to show San Diego's breast cancer survivors that WE can hang tough, too!

Where's Booby Camp being held?

Booby Camp 2009 will take place in Mission Bay Park at our Mission Bay Boot Camp location. The street address for Mission Bay Boot Camp is located at 2130 East Mission Bay Drive, San Diego, CA 92109, just North of the Mission Bay Hilton Hotel in the large grassy area. Here's a map:

How can I help?

Aside from showing up for Booby Camp, you can help us out a great deal by downloading and printing off our Booby Camp promo flyer (18.03MB, PDF Format) and hanging it wherever you can legally do so. Help spread the word!!

But I'm a girl!

Sorry, but like Calvin & Hobbes' treehouse, Booby Camp is for guys only. Dave also has the Mission Bay Boot Camp at the same place, that same morning, if any gals want to check into whether a boot-camp style workout is good for them.
